“I measure success by my ability to stay in business and give back to the community.
Napa Valley College provided me with a starting point for success, and I am
never through learning!”
Gary Garaventa, NVC Class of 1964
Owner, Garaventa Florist, http://www.garaventasflorist.com/
Starting out with NVC
Gary graduated with a Associate of Arts Degree and began to build his business. Gary worked
while attending college, learning the flower business while earning his associate degree. He knew he
would always become a local business owner, and looked to NVC to provide the foundation that prepared him for success.
Success as a NVC Alumnus
Over the years, Gary developed his business from a small hole-in-the-wall shop on Main Street, to a thriving one-stop flower shop serving the Napa region. He lead professional organizations in the florist industry, growing and adapting as the industry became distinctly global. Through advances in technology, Gary says that it is a common transaction for orders to come Garaventa Florist from all corners of the world.
Gary has served the local community as well, accepting community leadership positions that support education and health. He was honored as Napa Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year in 2012.
